Emily Liu (B.S. '23)

Main content start

March 16, 2021

In her time before arriving at Stanford and as an undergraduate, Emily has prioritized public service and environmental stewardship. She serves as a youth plaintiff with the Duke Environmental Law and Policy Clinic, petitioning her home state of North Carolina to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and lobbied with Our Children’s Trust to Congressmembers in support of the Juliana v US Supreme Court case for youth climate rights. Because of her interest in environmental justice, she contributes to a research project to understand how vulnerable communities respond to COVID-19 and the California wildfires. Emily strives to amplify the voices of those in the climate movement who are often overlooked and exemplifies the values of public service through her dedication to help others. Emily is interested in a career in public service, either through advocacy with environmental NGOs or environmental policy work at the state and federal level. She hopes to dedicate her life to tackling the climate crisis in the form of public service and will be a Schneider Fellow for the Environmental Defense Fund this summer.
