Sydney Schmitter

Sydney Schmitter is a senior in the Land Systems track and has displayed a long commitment to environmental public service. As co-president of the Stanford SEEDS, she designed curriculum spanning ecology, climate justice, and Indigenous wildfire management and co-taught these lessons at Redwood Continuation High School. Additionally, she’s played an active role in Students for Sustainable Stanford. As the co-event coordinator, she organized the 9th Annual Schneider Lecture featuring Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, and planned events like majors panels and weekly internal bonding events for club members. Sydney hopes to advocate for just and equitable policies through her research on the climate migration of Indigenous communities, deep sea ocean vertebrate communities, and Pacific salmonids.
