Erin has been involved in a number of environmental and education-related public service opportunities since coming to Stanford. As a member of the Stanford Outdoor Outreach Program (SOOP), she leads outdoor trips for high school students from East Palo Alto. She is also part of a student organization that focuses on environmental education, through which she has taught virtual lessons on environmental justice topics to high schoolers. Through different service learning courses, Erin has done a project to support an organization that provides free, overnight, environmental education programs to students from under-resourced schools in the Bay Area, as well as tutored preschoolers in math and taught hands-on science lessons to third graders. This winter, she will be conducting a community-engaged capstone project for Earth Systems, redesigning an environmental justice and climate change curriculum for middle school students.
